Lesson outlines

Telling the Time ( Primary, secondary and adult)

by Christiane van Opdenbosch, Belgium

Level: post-beginner to intermediate

1. Demonstrate this exercise to the class, using a volunteer.

You: six o'clock

Volunteer student: seven o'clock

You: one minute past six

Volunteer: one minute to seven

You: two minutes past six

Volunteer: two minutes to seven etc…..

2. Pair the students and ask them to move forward from six and backwards from seven, until they, hopefully, meet at half past six.

Note: I have used this technique in my classes teaching Dutch to French speakers and feel you may find it useful for teaching English.
