The City Caught In The Lights

Sarah Behar, Turkey

She stared out onto the water,
And wondered what had happened,
The city that shined so well in the sunlight,
Seemed to have lost its glimmer somewere along the way.
The people rush from one area to another,
Catching the places where all the stories came from,
Trying not to miss anything.
But, somehow while rushing through the city,
They lost the true meaning of the city.
The boats cross over the water,
Sounding their horns as they pass the other boats.
But something in the sound isn’t what it was before.
She feels a sound of sadness in the horns,
A sound of worry.
When all goes calm at night in one place,
The city lights up and the music begins,
But the history stands and watches as the place is brought to life.
She watches the city and begins to worry.
If those living in the city could stop and realize,
They would see that there is a lot that they dont see,
And the city so loved by so many,
Is slowly begining to loose its affection.
As the mountains and springs show their affection towards the land,
Other areas are slowly begining to disappear.
So she watches this country,
That is loved by many,
And tries to make sure that it will still be loved afterwards.
