Michael Rundell column

Mike writes:

I am snowed under this month, and the biggest of my snowdrifts is preparing a course to be held shortly in Japan for 45 Japanese lexicographers.

I am sorry that I really can't produce a column for this Issue but in the May 2001 Issue I hope I can give you some idea of where computer linguistics work is at in Japan.

In the May Issue I will also offer you some thoughts on the way that computer linguistics discoveries are undermining some of the cosy givens that have been with us since the time of Aristotle, for instance concepts like

    noun
    verb
    adjective
    adverb.
