The Teacher Like a Gardener!

Gabriela-Mirela Mihaescu, Romania

Gabriela Mihaescu is a teacher of English from Romania. She teaches high-school students. E-mail: gabymirela@yahoo.com

Stenhouse once said : “a teacher is like a gardener treating different plants differently” and this is all very true. Our students are our flowers. They are delicate and beautiful and they require our permanent care and attention. We need to treat each of them differently. We need to make them fell important and involved in our lessons. We should make them understand that involvement is the best solution to a successful learning.

Every dog and every bee,

Every bird up in the tree,

Every stork up in the sky

Knows what really means to try.

You need to know you’re liked and loved

You need to hear and to be heard

You need to feel yourself alive,

You need to TRY….and that is why,

You! Teachers!, everywhere!

Help your children to be there…in the classroom

to help you…to take part in what you do!

Make them feel important!

Tell them something new!

Smile, and let them know what’s wrong

Tell them what to do!

Make them care and to put love in everything they do!
