Best Foot Forward

Trainers run fast,
as fast as can be.
They come in all sizes
for you and for me.

Sandals in summer
To wear on bare feet.
So light and so airy
for crossing the street.

Wellies you wear
when the weather is wet.
When walking through puddles,
but not in your bed!

Flip-flops
you will need
to carry your feet
in blue white or red
from bathroom to bed.

Moonboots
thick and strong
last all winter long.
Through snow and sleet
they warm up your toes
and warm up your feet.

Dark clouds in the sky?
Your socks will stay dry
in shoes made of wood:
Clogs are ever so good!

My Slippers are comfy.
My slippers are warm.
My slippers are lovely.
My slippers are.......torn!

This pen

This pen writes stories, nice and clear
of tigers, lions, mice and deer.

This pen writes poems of clouds and trees,
of butterflies and honey bees.

This pen can write a book of ghosts on holiday
in castles where I saw them dance and play.

This pen can write a poster saying: 'Coming soon',
a play about a spacecraft flying to the moon.

This pen can write a nasty notice on the toilet door:
'Closed for cleaning. Open on the seventh floor'.

This pen can write a list for things to buy:
potatoes, apples and a tasty kidney pie.

This pen can write the question to the Grand Old Duke of York
why he likes to eat his soup only with a fork.

This pen can write important rules
for schools and parks and swimming pools.

This pen can write a Thank You letter to Dear Barry
Who sent a birthday present from Killarney.

This pen can write a recipe for cherry cake
Or how to fry a well-done steak.

A pen, though only full of ink,
can write exactly what you think.
