The Enemy Within

Ibn Tyne, Saudi Arabia

I am the enemy within,
And this tale of mine has a sting.

My job - to teach my mugger tongue,
Which usurped yours from the top rung.

The language of the conqueror
Has become the lingua franca

And, in turn, the lingua franca
Continues as a conqueror.

I'm paid to spread its use wider,
So therefore it's my provider,

And if it provides my pasta,
I'm the servant to its master.

I'm implicated in its harm.
Can I reverse its present charm?

Let me teach you good and proper;
Drink deep the language I proffer.

(Training up some special forces
For the battlefield discourses.)

Gain mastery over this tool,
Till the ruled over get to rule.

I am the enemy within,
Yet I hope to help you win,

Or at least engage in debate
And reach an antlers locked stalemate.
