Nature’s Christmas Song
Lantern of Light
Fluffing soft feathers
To brave his way
Beak hits into ice
That’s December’s way.
Green grass under snowflakes
Red berries frosted white
It’s a hard time for robins
When Christmas is nigh.
Tis Christmas morn
Dawn is just breaking
Kids come a creeping
Sleepy eyes wide awaking.
Silence envelops
This frosty morn
Robin perched watching
As eagerness draws.
Mistletoe in beak
Squirrels bearing their nuts
Rabbits sniffing impatient
Twitching whiskers, sense the fun
Robin red breast a watching
His flock making games
As we share out this Christmas
Our nuts and our grains.
Thank you for coming
Thanks for your song
So that Christmas for many
Long remembered be, once gone.
Christmas is upon us
Another year gone by
Have we done our homework?
Have we made use of our time?
Each day is precious
More than the last
Every step forward
Looks back at our past
Where are those dreams
We always said we would have?
Those we would remember
And fulfil to the last
Have I spoken in your ear?
Have you heard my voice in your heart?
Have things changed since last Christmas?
Has life followed its path?
My dream this Christmas
Is to understand love
Is to touch what really matters
Is to know where I’m at
My wish this Christmas
Casts new light to old ways
Creating room for manoeuvre
And new hope for fresh change
Christmas is a time
To move on to what waits
Each of our destinies
It’s there for the take
Not to be squandered
Lost, hopeless to waste
But to be bold, to move forward
With conviction and faith
To do what our hearts
And our souls know is right
To go forward this Christmas
And follow our light
A New Year’s upon us
Can you see your path up ahead?
I want to feel proud next Christmas
Of having done what was meant
