A Teacher’s Song

Fiona James, UK

The key for us is loving what we do
Our secret is wanting, I believe, to get through
It’s overcoming fear to connect to their hearts
Joining mind and spirit with random laughs

If being a teacher is what you do
Then learning from others is what is true
Light without darkness, there is none
Boldness without doubt is for teachers melody sung

Being whole, loving true, caring deep down
Are traits in our makeup we take to the crowd
Because without understanding those in our path
An absence of empathy for what goes on in those hearts

Is a barrier indeed to march forth to new parts
And discover fresh ways to think and become.
We are privileged souls committed to our cause
Which when fulfilled tears down closed doors

That would otherwise hinder our mission towards
Those who put trust and illusion……. in us teachers to move forth
