Focus Enhancing pupils' awareness of visual detail; activation of speaking skills.

This is an excellent exercise for developing perception skills. Pupils speak and write (if they can) English in a practical situation. Also, if you think that a certain pupil needs to be put in the limelight for some reason, this activity offers a good opportunity to do so since it involves everyone focusing on one pupil for a short period of time. The way in which this is done has good potential to give him or her a boost in positive energy.

Procedure 1 Send one pupil inconspicuously out of the classroom. 2 Invite the rest of the group to describe the absent pupil. Elicit lots of detail not only about clothes but also colour of hair and eyes, height and so on. If your pupils are used to writing in English, ask them to note down the details they want to remember. 3 Ask the pupil to come in again. Ask pupils to say how their earlier recollections differ from the reality. 4 (Optional) Pupils write an accurate description in their notebooks.
