Hi,

We've introduced the theme with various topics through storytelling:

Story telling

Now it's time to select some vocabulary:

How about children do it?

and

Social Games.

Enjoy the reading and pass it on ... If you believe someone else could benefit from it, do not hesitate to share it ...

Best,

Mija S.

Dear Hania,

Thank you so much for your message and the link to the April Issue of the Magazine. I have read a few articles and both of Mario's contributions and am very satisfied with the thoughts these authors have inspired. But your message is something very important to me. I have had a sad Easter and was low in spirits. Your tone and words were just the thing to lift my spirits up. Thank you very much.

Thinking of your quest for suggestions to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Magazine, I should like to say that a conference would be a nice idea. But it might be a different conference than the usual ones, an informal event in which the speakers (probably of 15-20 minute) would round up their talks with a take-away page as a token to the listeners. This page, which might be graphically embellished, would have to contain such a summary of the talk that would highlight its humanising character and be a keepsake or a useful hint for application somewhere some time. I have no idea of how the presentations could be published, but this is something for more experienced and influential to decide. And the 20 minutes, if it is twenty minutes, might also include question time for informal responses and exchange of ideas. If this event were to take place in summer, it could take place in the open. I remember there was a programme for teachers organised by the British Council once, in the 1990s, in Palanga, a resort, in Lithuania, which was conducted in the open with respective exercises. We enjoyed it immensely and felt free to communicate and exchange ideas.

That's about all I meant to say, and I should not make this message very long.
Thank you very much again for the personal message, which I really appreciate.

With kind regards,

Marija Liudvika

Dear Colleague,

Thank you for dropping by our booth during the last IATEFL Conference in Brighton.

Below please see a summary of some useful links and resources for the TOEFL iBT Test.

Currently, we rarely offer face-to-face workshops in the UK, but if there is interest from a group of teachers from your institution or area we may definitely organise something. Please let me know if that is the case.

Anglia Examinations celebrates 25 years at Chichester College

Anglia Examinations has been based in Chichester, England, since 1993, so this year marks its 25th anniversary. Anglia offers a structured Step-by-Step programme of tests assessing English language competence, from beginner through to expert user. Since its early days in Cyprus, the company has flourished over the years into a truly global organisation, with representatives in over 40 countries.

As part of its celebrations throughout the year, a conference of international representatives was recently held at the college. The two-day event was a chance to both mark this milestone and plan for the future by looking forward to the next quarter century.

Delegates from many countries around the world including Argentina, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Russia, Poland and Peru all came together at the Anglia Headquarters in Chichester, West Sussex.

Liz Bangs-Jones, Chief Executive of Anglia Examinations, said: “We were delighted to be able to celebrate our anniversary with so many of our international colleagues, to share our successes, exchange stories and look at what the future could hold.”

5 ways to take your CPD into your own hands

Are you feeling stuck, uninspired or unmotivated to find ways to develop professionally? In her latest blog, Chia Suan Chong suggests five ways that could kickstart your professional development and encourage you to take control of your CPD.

"It has been said that teachers who have been teaching for 20 years may be divided into two categories: those with 20 years’ experience, and those with one year’s experience repeated 20 times. - Penny Ur. Professor Penny Ur’s quote remains one of my favourite quotes about teaching to this day, and mainly because it accurately describes the power of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and how the desire to improve ourselves and get better at what we do can make all the difference." To whom it may concern,

My name is Yaser Khajavi and I am assistant to Dr. Alireza Ahmadi, president of TELLSI 16 Conference which will be held in Shiraz University, Iran on November 2018.

Teaching English Language and Literature Society of Iran (TELLSI) holds this international conference annually and hundreds of university professors as well as MA and PhD students participate in the event.

Currently we are seeking partners to join us in holding the conference. We would be very grateful if INGED could cooperate with us as a partner in holding the conference in one or some of the following ways:

  1. Assistance in reviewing the abstracts submitted to the conference.
  2. Inviting your reputed academic members to join the scientific committee of the conference.
  3. Providing constructive suggestions on how to manage the event successfully.
  4. Assisting us through any other activities that you may consider to be helpful.

To appreciate our partners' efforts, TELLSI organizers will provide the following services:

  1. A suitable site will be devoted to partner associations/ institutions in the conference hall to sell their services and give information to presenters regarding how to become a member of intended association.
  2. The logo of cooperating association/ institution will be published in the conference announcement posters, proceedings and all other materials as a partner.
  3. Your agents can attend the conference free of charge. In addition, we will provide them with free accommodation and other necessary services.
  4. Even if you are not able to send an agent, we would be willing to allocate the mentioned space and ask our Ph.D. students to introduce your association to the participants and distribute brochures among them.

For further information regarding our 2017 conference, you can visit http://tellsi15.conference.riau.ac.ir/en/congressDataSend/index.html

I look forward to hearing from you.

Please feel free to contact us should you have any inquiries.

Thank you in advance.

Wendy and the Flourish Team

What we do

Collaboration - Awareness-raising - Championing Childhood

We help connect people who care about the pressures that are undermining the natural development, happiness and wellbeing of young children. We raise awareness about the problems and solutions and we champion the great things that are going on worldwide.

What we care about

The rights and freedoms of children as powerful young citizens
Parents and teachers feeling understood, valued and listened to
More human and community-centred policymaking
Everyone having the ability to flourish and live a good and happy life

We have now established National Children's Day UK (NCDUK) as a major platform, not only to celebrate childhood, but to also raise awareness about some of the current pressures on children and families in the UK. The next day takes place on Sunday 13th May (although you can run any kind of event or activity you want for the week up to and including the day) and we hope everyone will want to get involved - www.nationalchildrensdayuk.com

See the latest NCDUK booklet

Our events, publications and consultancy activities have called for more child, family and community-centred policymaking

Our E-Zine, Facebook and Twitter pages have tried to ensure we keep everyone up-to-date with the most interesting news items we could find.

We have been sharing with everyone the increasing global interest in the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) on child and family wellbeing (and what we can do about it)

And we have developed The Flourish Model as a way of explaining to people how important it is to understand and support the Whole child and not just some aspects at the expense of others.

The Flourish Model

Why do we do what we do? This short film captures the danger of us losing sight of everything that really matters in life...

Supporting our work

We really do need your help to grow - so you can support us with contributions or talk to us as potential partners, sponsors or benefactors.
