How I have found my best friend
Strange summer weekend

How I have found my best friend

Maxim Shutov, 15, Moscow, Russia.

I have a friend. We have known each other since we were 5. He was born on the 10th of April in 1992. We have a tradition to celebrate his birthday together in his country house. I like to take part in these celebrations.

Some days before the party we went to his house to prepare everything for it. As it was early spring, the weather was rather cold and we had to make fire in the fireplace, than we went to the nearest supermarket to buy some food. We decorated rooms for the party and than everything were ready.

On the 10th of April all guests came to his place and the dinner table was set for them in a dinning room. But for our great surprise when we invited our friends to the room we found that a big piece of roasted meat and roasted chicken had disappeared. We couldn’t understand what had happened in the room. But suddenly we heard some strange sounds form the garden and we noticed that the door was opened. We quickly ran into the garden and saw two small and dirty funny puppies they were very hungry and frightened… We were very sorry for them and took poor creatures into the house. We gave them food and put them near the warm fireplace and soon they were sleeping happily. In the morning we decided to take the cute puppies to Moscow to our flats.

That birthday party was the happiest in our life because we saved two dogs and found devoted friends. I will remember that day all my life.

Strange summer weekend

Denis Zheltov, 16, Moscow, Russia

Tom and I live in Moscow. We have always been friends since our childhood. We like to spend our free time together and last summer we decided to spend one of our weekends in a special way and to go fishing somewhere in the country. I was looking forward for the event because living in a tent in the forest near the river seemed very unusual and exiting to me!

We started our trip very early. The sun was shining brightly but very soon it began to rain and a cold wind was blowing. The weather turned to be rather unpleasant but we determent to continue our trip. When we came to the place near the river we were both cold and wet and also we were hungry. We began putting up our tent and for us it became clear that we didn’t know how to do it! Finally we were able to put it up and we tried to make a fire and to our pleasure we could do it rather quickly. We made some tea and than came into the tent and fell asleep as we very tired.

Next morning was calm and bright and we happily took our fishing rods and started fishing. Suddenly Tom noticed that he had caught smth. He tried to pull his fishing rod out from the river but he couldn’t and in a minute he was in the water – he fell into the river! The river wasn’t deep but the bank of it was very steep and it was very difficult to climb it. Tom tried and tried but couldn’t and he got angry and I – I didn’t know why – burst into laughter! Tom was shouting at me but I couldn’t help laughing – I went on more and more.

At last I helped him to get out of the river to the bank of the river but he was so angry with me that decided to go home so we went to the railway station but the last train had already gone. We had to wait for a morning train sitting on the bench under the cold rain.

When we came home he couldn’t understand why he was so angry with me, as for me I still can’t understand why I was laughing madly at him. So we decided to go fishing next summer!
