When Your Time Comes
Michael Berman, UK
When your time comes
How I can make the most of the time I have left here –
Paradoxically by leaving this reality more often than I do
By spending more of my time with my true teacher and helpers
Where I can be myself, and where there is no pressure on me
Where there are no distorting mirrors
Where I can receive the truth direct
Not channelled into the messages I would feel more comfortable hearing
And that would enable me to justify carrying on as I am
Instead of bringing about the changes that are needed
- And that is how I can make the most of the time I have left
And when your time comes, if it were possible, would you like another shot at life, or will you have had enough? – I think I’ll only ever know the answer to this when I reach that point on my journey. But what I do know is that time will come, and that is a tide no man can turn back. In the words of Fred McDowell and the Rev Gary Davis:
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move, child
You gotta move
Oh, when the Lord gets ready
You gotta move
You may be high
You may be low
You may be rich, child
You may be poor
But when the Lord gets ready
You gotta move
From the lyrics to "You Gotta Move" by Fred McDowell and the Rev Gary Davis, recorded by the British rock and roll band The Rolling Stones and featured on their 1971 album Sticky Fingers.
