C FOR CREATIVITY

The C Group at IATEFL 2017

The Literature, Media and Cultural Studies SIG at the Pre-Conference event at the 2017 IATEFL Conference in Glasgow

The C group will be collaborating with the Literature, Media and Cultural Studies SIG at their Pre-Conference event at the 2017 IATEFL Conference in Glasgow. (See below for topic details).

This may be of interest to you in one of two ways:

1. You may wish to be there as a participant. We hope many of you who will be going to Glasgow will decide to sign up for this PCE. Announcements will appear in due course on the IATEFL website.

2. Some of you may also wish to present a session at this event, especially if film studies is one of your interests or if you have worked on film with your students. Sessions will be 30 minutes each. Presenters will have their PCE fee waived and be eligible for one-night's accommodation. We have 3 slots reserved for the C Group. If you would like to apply, please send a 150 word abstract of your proposal, plus a brief CV (100 words) to Chris Lima
chrislima90@yahoo.co.uk, with a copy to Alan Maley yelamoo@yahoo.co.uk and Nick Bilbroughnickbilbrough@yahoo.co.uk. Ideally, this should reach us by 7 June 2016.

LMCS Pre-conference Event

Light, camera, action! Using films for English language learning

The day will offer participants a series of talks and workshops on how to explore films with English language learners. The presenters will share ideas on how films can be used both inside and outside the classroom to promote language awareness, critical thinking and the development of the four skills as well as tools for the fostering learner autonomy and independent learning skills.

This will be a joint event with the Creativity Group (C Group), whose members will be among the presenters. Talks and workshops will be delivered by experienced teachers, renowned ELT teacher trainers, and experts in the field of Film Studies.
