JOKES

How to use jokes in class

Rakesh Bhanot

How to use jokes in class???

Simple idea

Tell/give a written copy of a joke to the students and ask them to predict the punch line

or vice versa

Give them the punch line and ask them to construct a joke around it

More ideas

Make two groups and set them one of the tasks above each based on the same joke

works with most jokes .

Example 1

You know the one about Gorvechov which he used to tell about himself?

A man standing in a long queue in Moscow gets very disgruntled and shouts: "I am fed up with all these long queues.... I am going to get me a gun and shoot that Gorvechov". He comes back a day later and rejoins his friend in the same queue. The friend asks, "well, did you shoot him?".

Guess the ending …

"No", replies the first man, "the queue to shoot him was even longer than this one!"

Example 2

An Ameriacn and a Russian discussing democracy. American says: in the US we have total freedom. Any citizen of the US can walk up to the White House and say "President Nixon/Bush/Reagan is an idiot and nothing will happen to him".

The Russian says: in Russia we have the same total freedom. Any citizen of Russia can walk up to the Kremlin and say "

Guess the ending …

"President Nixon/Bush/Reagan is an idiot and nothing will happen to him."

Five Tips

Ken Wilson

On Sunday Ken send me these tips for women.

Five tips for women:

1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job.

2. It is important that a man makes you laugh.

3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn't lie to you.

4. It is important that a man loves and spoils you.

5. It is important that these four men don't know each other.

I asked what the tips for men would be. Here came the reply: Thought for the day for women: easy!!!!

Five tips for men:

1. It is important that a woman helps you around the house and has a job.

2. It is important that a woman makes you laugh.

3. It is important to find a woman you can count on and doesn't lie to you.

4. It is important that a woman loves and spoils you.

5. It is important that these four women KNOW each other and make plans to divide up your estate when you're gone!

Any ideas for ten tips for children????

An activity that could live a life of its own and grow.
