A Visual Aid For The Teacher

Teachers usually find it difficult to remember their new students' names. However, there is an easy way to do it. All you need is a digital camera and a computer (Microsoft Word).

At the beginning of the first lesson, ask your students to sign the attendance register. It is important that they put their names on the list in the same order as they are seated in the class room. Just before the end of the first meeting, take photos of all the students. In this way, you will be able to link the students' names with their faces.

When you have transferred the images into your computer and saved them on your hard disk, insert the images into a word document and edit them (resize and reorder).
First, create a new word document. Then, repeat the following steps to add each photo from the existing files that have you transferred from your digital camera. Select Insert|Picture|From File on the menu bar. Browse to find the images on your computer. Highlight the file name from the list and click the Insert button.

Next, edit the image. Activate the image you wish to edit by clicking on it once with the mouse. Eight handles will appear around the graphic. Click and drag these handles to resize the image. The pictures inserted will be restricted in the way text will wrap around them (if you would like to place them in a line, for example). This can be reset clicking once on the picture with your Right mouse button and choosing Format Picture from the menu given. Then choose Wrapping and click on a wrapping style.

Finally, label the students according to the list they signed. Click the Text box on the drawing tool bar and insert the names onto the photos. Right-click the text box and select Format Text Box from the menu given. Then choose Colours and lines to delete the line and background colour. Repeat the actions for each student's name.

Enjoy and impress your students. Here is what I have got!
