Clic- An exercise creation Programme

Clic is an open programme that allows teachers to create educational multimedia materials. It was designed here in Catalonia.

It offers the possibility of designing tasks to reinforce many of the skills fostered in the students' curriculum such as matching, identification, memorisation, ordering, classification, completion, exploration, etc.

Clic is already 10 years old but it is still growing and developing as it has been proved to be of great pedagogical value.

It has been translated into many European and non-European languages and many teachers have collaborated in updating and opening new possibilities for its use. Its database with more than 70.000 activities covering the different areas in the curriculum in about 10 different languages is just an example of its impact.

A new version of Clic (JavaClic) is being developed so that it can be used through the Internet on different operative systems in the near future.

There is a web site available on XTEC network in Catalan, Spanish and English, where the programme can be downloaded and where a forum and a news bulletin, online courses and an activity database can be found.

To distribute Clic, as well as other software and curricular materials to the teachers, the Department of Education has produced a CD Rom called Sinera, which has been sent to Catalan Schools every year. They can also be easily downloaded from the XTEC environment.

Updated versions and new classrooms resources are disseminated through the regular meetings of ICT co-ordinators as well as in teacher training sessions.

They can also access the database with more than 70.000 activity packages from different teachers and in different languages, as we mentioned before.

New examples produced by teachers all over Europe using this programme can be sent to the Catalan Department of Education. They are revised, modified when necessary, and edited
