The Extensive Reading Foundation: Language Learner Literary Award

The winners of the 2013 Language Learner Literature Awards were honoured, and the 2014 Finalists officially announced, at the IATEFL Conference in Harrogate, UK, on Wednesday 2nd April. Conference delegates and special guests were welcomed by Extensive Reading Foundation board members at an informal reception enlivened by the marvellous music of Steve Bingham on the violin.

The reception was followed by the awards ceremony hosted by Jeremy Harmer. Certificates were presented to the authors of the winners in each of the five categories, or their representatives. Students and teachers were invited to vote for their favourite finalist for 2014 at www.erfoundation.org. Voting closes on June 30.

The Milne Innovation Award 2013 was granted to Professor Richard Day, from the University of Hawaii, for his life-long commitment to the cause of extensive reading. Richard was not able to be present at the ceremony, but accepted the award online.

The event was sponsored by the British Council, IATEFL and nine leading publishers. Video of the event is available at
