Student Voices

Evalaution of this web'zine, Humanising Language Teaching,

by Martina Miessgang,
a student teacher in Innsbruck University, Austria

Humanising Language Teaching is a magazine for foreign language teachers and students of English.. The actual page shows the newest issue but one can download every single issue from 1999 onwards. So one can read and re-read articles and issues whenever one has time to or one can save the most important and most interesting ideas.

If one likes to receive further publication updates from HLT one can also join the mailing list and so get freely the newest information.

There are also a lot of articles about current topics. One can first read a short summary and then print out, download or read the whole article. They talk about serious problems, topics and developments.

In particular for students and new teachers the Lesson Outlines can be very helpful and further more students report about their own experiences with special methods or techniques. They tell what worked out perfectly well in class or what kind of problems they had to consider. Further opinions can be read of readers of the HLT. They write letters to the HLT where they say what they think of different things and also give their own tips.

One can also have a look at the newest publications and short Book Previews are also available, so that one gets to know if he/she can use this particular book or if the book can be helpful for his/her topics or works.

Probably it would be quite attractive to have a look at the book covers. To show some photographs of books and magazines they report on. So that the pages get more colourful. One can put some images or pictures of teachers or students on the page for example. Especially the joke page would be more attractive with pictures or clips.

But all in all the page is very well structured and very user friendly, and one gets a very good overview of the whole issue. On the left top of the page there is always the icon list with the overview of the whole issue. On the left top of the page there is always the icon list with the topics and so one can easily change from one page to the other. I am of the opinion that this homepage should get a plus for the good work!
