READERS' LETTERS

Letter 1

Hello,

I hope you are doing well. My name is Keilah, and I work with premier universities across the country helping distribute their program research, case studies and data visualizations.

I came across your website and resources that examine changes in education technology, augmented reality, different classroom applications and the array of educational benefits that could arise from their growing popularity. Because of this, I wanted to bring your attention to an academic resource from the New Jersey Institute of Technology that examines how augmented reality is changing the way primary and secondary education is being taught while looking at the effectiveness these emerging classroom applications have on personalized learning and retention of information.

Get full access to the visual resource here:
http://graduatedegrees.online.njit.edu

I hope you find this to be a valuable addition to your resource page or as a blog post.

Our goal is to build awareness around the ways augmented and virtual reality are revolutionizing primary education and student learning. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can assist you in any way.

Thank you in advance,
Keilah Keiser

WELCOME BACK TO HELBLING ENGLISH NEWSLETTER

We're excited and proud to announce that THE BULLY is the WINNER in the Extensive Reading Foundation Language Learner Literature 2017 Award in the Very Young Learners category.

THE BULLY is part of the acclaimed Thinking Train Series of readers by renowned author team Herbert Puchta & Günter Gerngross.

Congratulations and thanks to authors Herbert and Günter and illustrator Lorenzo Sabbatini and everyone else in the team.

Juror’s Comment:

"The story is one that all children can relate which is having to deal with the class bully. This graded reader uses lower level vocabulary to tell a compelling tale of how a bully has a change of heart. The story teaches moral lessons such as respect, friendship and kindness. Also, students can have a chance to reflect on their behavior toward others and be aware of the consequences of unkind act. The best quality of this book is the suggestions on how teachers can get students to act out the story, either as TPR activity or as class drama performance. It also provides before reading and after reading activities. The after reading activities are not the usual reading comprehension exercises; they use critical thinking skills and allow students to personalize the language. Illustrations are colorful and beautiful."

Find out more about the book here.

Dear Hania,

I hope this email finds you well and that you’ve had a good summer. I’m just getting in touch to let you know that we’ve recently published “Going Performative in Intercultural Education: International Contexts, Theoretical Perspectives and Models of Practice” edited by John Crutchfield and Manfred Schewe.

The book explores the extent to which performative approaches, emphasising the role of the body as a learning medium, can achieve deep intercultural learning and create rich opportunities for intercultural encounters that transport students beyond the parameters of conventional approaches to language and culture education.

(…) More information about the book can be found on our website: www.multilingual-matters.com/display.asp?isb=%209781783098545. Please just let me know if you need any further information or have any questions.

Best wishes,

Flo
